Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 23, 2026

MyEcho LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the My3chos platform at my3chos.com. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that data. By using My3chos, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: Name, email address, and birth information you provide when creating an account or setting up an Echo.
  • Interview responses: Text and transcribed answers you provide during the guided Interview — the 433-prompt questionnaire used to build an Echo’s source material.
  • Interview audio: Spoken answers you deliberately record for transcription into Written source material. Voice cloning is not part of the current free beta.
  • Uploaded artifacts: Photos, documents, letters, audio clips, obituaries, recipes, and other materials submitted to build or enrich an Echo.
  • Family access tokens: Shareable tokens used to grant family members access to an Echo. Tokens are stored as one-way SHA-256 hashes — we cannot recover the plaintext value.
  • Beta entitlement: We record whether an approved account has active beta access and when that time-bounded access ends. The free beta does not request credit card information.
  • Usage data: Standard server logs including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. We use this data to operate and improve the platform and do not sell it.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Build and operate living-person Written Echos by indexing source material for retrieval during text conversations.
  • Retrieve relevant source material for Echo replies. Retrieved references may be displayed when available. Answer-level ZH verification is still being validated, and generated replies can be wrong.
  • Confirm and track approved, time-bounded beta access.
  • Communicate with you about your account, beta access, and platform changes.
  • Diagnose technical issues and improve the platform.

3. AI Processing — No External AI APIs

My3chos runs its language model (Ollama with Qwen 2.5) locally on our own infrastructure. Your personal data, interview responses, and Echo content are never transmitted to third-party AI APIs such as OpenAI, Google, or Anthropic. All inference happens within our controlled environment.

4. Audio and Paused Voice Features

Spoken interview answers may be sent only to My3chos-controlled local transcription for conversion into Written source material. If local transcription is unavailable, the recording is not sent to a hosted AI provider; you can type the answer instead. The current free beta does not offer voice cloning or synthetic speech.

  • Written capture only: The minimum Written capture agreement shown during setup is the only operational consent agreement for this pilot.
  • Voice agreements paused: Public Voice recording, Voice cloning, and deceased-person consent documents are non-operative drafts. They cannot be signed through the current pilot.
  • No synthetic voice processing: Interview audio submitted during this pilot is not used to create a voice model or generate speech in your voice.

5. Data Retention and Privacy Requests

Current beta term: Approved accounts receive time-bounded access to one living-person Written Echo. We retain data needed to operate the beta subject to approved retention policy and applicable law.

No complete self-service workflow: Settings do not currently provide a complete self-service account-data export, account deletion, or consent-withdrawal control. Content-specific print and download tools are not a full account export.

Request review: Email contact@my3chos.com with an access, correction, portability, consent, or deletion request. We review and handle requests according to applicable law and approved policy. This policy does not promise a fixed completion date or automatic deletion of backups, derived data, models, or audit records.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Payment processors: The free beta does not send beta signup information to Stripe. If paid plans open later, any payment processor and its data use will be disclosed before purchase.
  • Family members you authorize: When you share a family access token, the recipient gains access to the Echo associated with that token. You control who receives tokens.
  • Legal requirements: If required by valid legal process (court order, subpoena), we will comply and notify you to the extent permitted by law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide rights concerning access, correction, portability, deletion, restriction, or objection. To submit a privacy request, email us at contact@my3chos.com. Requests are reviewed and handled according to applicable law and approved policy. This page does not promise a particular outcome or completion date where the law does not require one.

8. Children

My3chos is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at contact@my3chos.com and we will review the report and take action according to applicable law and approved policy.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data storage, hashed access tokens (SHA-256), and TLS in transit. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to keep your access tokens confidential.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of My3chos after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

11. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of [State], United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
